SAINT VINCENT

This former New Orlean orphanage, erected in 1862, sets the stage for my report. Now a rather cheap boarding house, it is inhabited by the most surprising people. Some starting over, others just ending up there. Many of them just wander around there, lost somewhere between alcohol and despair. They merely share the premises, a strange, magnetic place where time seems to stand still. The atmosphere is literally soaked with New Orelan’s mugginess. The narrative uniting these characters rests in the building itself, this almost organic mansion that grips them all. Just like The Shining’s Overlook Hotel, Saint Vincent House is taking hold of its residents.
